Staff Backend Developer

Job Summary

Leading the design and delivery of critical product components, the full-time remote Staff Backend Developer will build scalable backend services, APIs, and data pipelines while driving technical quality and engineering standards across a core product area.

Key responsibilities

• Own delivery for significant features or systems, from clarifying requirements to executing and iterating solutions
• Design and build scalable backend services and data pipelines that support core product functionality
• Mentor engineers through design reviews and provide hands-on technical guidance while influencing engineering best practices

Required qualifications

• 6+ years of overall software engineering experience, with 3+ years in product teams building and shipping production systems
• 5+ years of hands-on coding experience in Python and/or TypeScript, focusing on APIs, services, and data pipelines
• Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and CI/CD practices
• Proven ability to own systems end-to-end, from design through production and iteration
• Experience designing and scaling distributed systems in production environments
