Staff Backend Engineer

Job Summary

To support a growing web product engineering team, the remote Staff Backend Engineer will design and build scalable backend systems, ensuring application extensibility and security while collaborating on complex projects.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to backend server-side development for scalable and secure applications
• Prioritize customer deliverables and technical debt to maintain a sustainable software suite
• Design and architect frameworks for applying machine learning techniques to large data volumes

Required qualifications

• 10+ years of backend-focused experience in application programming and complex API development
• Strong working experience with Java or Scala; additional Rust experience is highly desired
• Proven experience in backend system design and architecture with scalability in mind
• Experience writing SQL queries and understanding complex enterprise-grade code
• BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
