Staff Backend Engineer

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Staff Backend Engineer to build, optimize, and scale APIs and systems for their connected sleep ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services, including Java and Python REST API services
• Lead backend system design, define best practices, and mentor other engineers
• Propose and lead architecture or refactor projects to improve system scalability and reliability

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in backend engineering with expertise in Java (21+) and Spring Boot
• Experience designing and building scalable, RESTful JSON APIs
• Proficiency in distributed systems, AWS, MySQL, and monitoring tools
• Experience with automated testing and continuous deployment practices
• Ability to adapt to new technologies and frameworks with a collaborative spirit
