Staff Backend Engineer

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Staff Backend Engineer, Recommender Systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end architecture of recommendation services and lead hands-on implementation
• Design and evolve ranking systems for scalable multi-stage architectures
• Act as a technical liaison between Data Science, Product, and Infrastructure while mentoring Senior Engineers

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent experience
• 8+ years of software development experience, with at least 3 years in Recommender Systems
• Deep practical experience with collaborative filtering, content-based filtering, and hybrid models
• Expert-level proficiency in Golang, Node.js, or Python, with experience in high-throughput systems
• Advanced knowledge of Postgres, MongoDB, and ElasticSearch/OpenSearch for performance tuning
