Job Summary

Working remotely, the full-time salaried Staff Backend Engineer will lead the design and development of critical payment and clearinghouse systems, ensuring reliability and scalability while mentoring other engineers in a mission-driven environment focused on improving mental healthcare access.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement fault-tolerant integrations with third-party services for payment processing and claims management
• Collaborate with engineering leadership to set technical direction and standards for backend systems

Required qualifications

• Proficiency in backend technologies such as TypeScript and Python 3
• Experience with distributed systems and understanding of concurrency, idempotency, and partial failures
• Demonstrated ability to drive software projects from ambiguous problems to successful outcomes
• Strong background in API architecture and user experience considerations
• Familiarity with healthcare systems and the ability to quickly learn complex domains
