Staff Backend Engineer

Job Summary

As a critical technical leader, the full-time remote Staff Backend Engineer will own the technical direction of AI-enabled products, balancing leadership and hands-on building while addressing complex technical challenges and mentoring team members.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical planning and system architecture for AI-powered products and new product builds
• Write high-quality code and develop proof-of-concepts to validate architecture options
• Mentor backend engineers, identify technical debt, and maintain a healthy backlog of work

Required qualifications

• 7+ years of professional engineering experience with a focus on web technologies
• Proven experience at a senior-to-staff level with system design for high-scale products
• Strong backend expertise in Kotlin, with TypeScript experience being a plus
• Solid understanding of AWS and Kubernetes
• Hands-on experience integrating AI models into customer-facing products
