Staff Backend Engineer

Job Summary

Seeking a hands-on Staff Backend Engineer for a full-time remote position, responsible for architecting and evolving backend APIs and services, leading technical initiatives, and improving system reliability for millions of users.

Key responsibilities

• Architect, build, and evolve backend APIs, services, and event-driven workflows
• Own complex backend product work from discovery through implementation and support
• Lead technical initiatives by breaking down problems and guiding teams to execution

Required qualifications

• Extensive experience in backend engineering with high-scale APIs and distributed systems
• Proficiency in backend technologies such as Node, TypeScript, Elixir, or Ruby/Rails
• Strong SQL skills and knowledge of relational database optimization techniques
• Understanding of service-oriented and event-driven architectures
• Experience with production infrastructure and operational debugging
