Staff Backend Engineer

Job Summary

To design, build, and scale critical rental systems, the full-time remote Staff Backend Engineer will develop end-to-end features, own critical components of rental systems, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and resilient backend platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop production services and RESTful APIs using Java, Node.js, or similar technologies
• Architect scalable, distributed systems for rental platforms and ensure high availability and resilience
• Mentor junior engineers and drive test automation while participating in code reviews and improving engineering processes

Required qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on backend development
• B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent
• 5+ years of full stack development experience, particularly in building and scaling production-grade systems
• Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, Node.js, or similar technologies
• Strong knowledge of databases and experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
