Staff Backend Engineer
Job Summary
To enhance developer experience and accelerate software delivery, the full-time Staff Backend Engineer will design and build systems for developer tooling, architecture, and workflows, while working remotely or from one of the US offices.
Key responsibilities:
- Design and build tools, SDKs, and evaluation frameworks to improve software delivery and integrate AI-assisted development workflows
- Architect core systems for reliable development across backend, mobile, and data, including observability and governance for developer tooling
- Mentor engineers and influence architectural decisions to balance reliability, developer velocity, and operational costs across multiple teams
Required qualifications:
- 12+ years of experience in designing and operating backend or platform systems at scale, with strong programming skills in Go, Python, or similar
- Deep experience in owning architecture for complex distributed systems and making impactful architectural tradeoffs
- Strong background in developer platforms and internal tooling, including designing APIs and building reusable libraries
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools and improving developer experience
- Proven experience with AWS and cloud-native systems, with a focus on reliability and observability
