Job Summary
To drive technical direction and performance engineering for core backend systems, the full-time Staff Backend Engineer will design and implement solutions, mentor team members, and collaborate with leadership in a remote work environment.
Key responsibilities
- Own the technical direction for a core backend system, focusing on architecture, reliability, and performance
- Design and implement solutions for complex problems in distributed systems, storage engines, or streaming pipelines
- Drive performance engineering initiatives, including profiling and benchmarking to optimize latency and throughput
Required qualifications
- 8+ years of backend engineering experience with a proven track record in building large-scale, production-grade systems
- Deep systems-level expertise, comfortable operating at the intersection of software and hardware
- Proficiency in Rust or equivalent systems programming languages such as C++ or Go
- Demonstrated ability to own and evolve complex systems from architecture to production operations
- Experience leading cross-team technical initiatives and driving them to successful completion
