Staff Backend Engineer

Job Summary

To support the development of personalized advertising systems, the full-time Staff Backend Engineer will design and scale high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a remote work environment.

Key responsibilities:

• Own architecture across critical Ads services, focusing on performance, consistency, and operational excellence
• Design reliable data flows and evolve event-driven architectures to ensure system resilience under varying conditions
• Set and drive backend performance standards across multiple teams, enhancing system reliability and development efficiency

Required qualifications:

• Proven experience designing and operating distributed backend systems at significant production scale
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, including partitioning, caching, and asynchronous processing
• Strong expertise in API design and data-intensive systems such as streaming and messaging
• Demonstrated ability to translate ambiguous requirements into robust backend designs
• Experience leading cross-team initiatives that shape organizational direction and resolve complex problems
