Staff Backend Engineer

Job Summary

Seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to work remotely in a full-time capacity, who will design, build, and deploy backend services and data pipelines while setting technical direction and supporting the developer experience for AI-empowered contributors.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy robust backend services, data pipelines, and APIs, ensuring data integrity throughout the platform
• Prototype quickly to test and validate ideas, transitioning successful prototypes into enterprise-scale solutions
• Set technical direction and standards for backend engineering, mentoring other engineers and driving cross-team initiatives

Required qualifications

• Extensive professional experience as a backend engineer with a proven track record of operating at a staff level
• Experience in vertical ownership of projects from database schema to production monitoring
• Proficiency in infrastructure as code, CI/CD, observability, and incident response
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, translating needs into technical solutions
• Genuine interest in carbon, climate strategy, and energy is a strong plus
