Staff Backend Engineer

Job Summary

To support the development of a globally distributed Model-as-a-Service (MaaS) platform, the full-time Staff Backend Engineer will co-own system design, optimize performance, and ensure reliability while working remotely within specified locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Co-own the end-to-end design of the MaaS system, authoring decision records and driving technical execution
• Own the wire compatibility contract for major formats and evolve the routing tier to enhance performance and stability
• Maximize platform economics and performance through optimization and integration of deployment tooling within the Kubernetes fleet

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience, including 3+ years managing a high-traffic, multi-tenant API platform
• Expertise in scaling distributed systems and executing zero-downtime migrations for stateful subsystems
• Hands-on proficiency with Go-based services and production Kubernetes, including Envoy and GPU-aware scheduling
• Understanding of LLM serving complexities and the ability to build reliable metering and billing systems
• Experience enforcing multi-tenant security disciplines and carrying on-call responsibilities for revenue-bearing platforms
