Staff Data Engineer
Job Summary
Owning the technical direction of the ELT platform, the full-time Staff Data Engineer will drive strategic initiatives, mentor engineers, and ensure high standards in code quality and data handling while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Drive the technical direction of the ELT platform and balance strategic investments with pragmatic delivery
- Write design documents for major initiatives and set standards for design work within the team
- Mentor and coach engineers at all levels, fostering growth and maintaining high code quality and compliance standards
Required qualifications
- 7+ years of professional software or data engineering experience with a track record of technical leadership
- Deep expertise in SQL and Python, along with hands-on experience with Airflow, dbt, and cloud data warehouses like Snowflake
- Experience resolving scale issues at the warehouse, data, and infrastructure levels
- Proven ability to anticipate design flaws and organizational risks, shaping outcomes effectively
- Strong judgment in using AI-assisted development and setting team-wide practices around it
