Staff Engineer
Job Summary
To enhance a clinical data platform, the full-time Staff Engineer will manage distributed systems of Java microservices, root-cause complex production incidents, and set technical direction while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Root-cause production incidents by tracing symptoms across various services and implementing effective fixes
- Own cross-cutting technical initiatives, including migrations and schema alignments, from design through delivery
- Raise engineering standards by contributing to code reviews and shared conventions across multiple repositories
Required qualifications
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with deep expertise in Java and the Spring ecosystem
- Proven experience managing distributed systems in production, particularly with Kafka or equivalent event streaming platforms
- Experience maintaining libraries or services with multiple internal consumers, focusing on versioning and staged rollouts
- Familiarity with healthcare data standards such as FHIR (HL7 R4) and experience with CQL or clinical data is a plus
- Experience with PostgreSQL or MongoDB in production, along with AWS or equivalent cloud infrastructure
