Staff Engineer, AI Systems

Job Summary

To support the AI Agentic Team, the full-time Staff Engineer or Architect will design, build, and own end-to-end agent systems for identity, fraud, risk, and commerce workflows, working either remotely within North America or in a hybrid model from the Vancouver office.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and own agent systems from design through production, ensuring reliability and observability
• Develop multi-step agent workflows that plan, execute, and iteratively improve outcomes while integrating human oversight
• Troubleshoot complex failures across models and infrastructure, maintaining accountability and clarity in communication with stakeholders

Required qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with a proven impact on production systems
• Fluency in using AI agents within engineering workflows, demonstrating accountability and verification of outputs
• Experience in owning features end-to-end and effectively communicating trade-offs to diverse stakeholders
• Hands-on experience with large language models and at least one agent framework, including prompt engineering and evaluation frameworks
• Ability to define and tackle challenging, ambiguous projects independently
