Staff Engineer, Distributed Systems

Job Summary

Working remotely in a full-time capacity, the Staff Engineer, Distributed Systems will design and evolve core systems, implement resilient architectures, and build tooling to enhance reliability and developer velocity.

Key responsibilities

• Design and evolve the core control, data, and observability systems that power the platform
• Implement resilient, region-spanning architectures that degrade gracefully under partial failure
• Diagnose and harden critical paths using metrics, tracing, testing, and real-world traffic insights

Required qualifications

• Experience designing and delivering distributed systems in production
• Proficiency in programming, particularly with languages and tools relevant to distributed systems
• Comfort with consensus, coordination, and the realities of distributed failure modes
• Ability to think in terms of data flow, state, performance, and correctness
• Strong ownership of the development process from prototype to monitoring and iteration
