Staff Engineer, Insurance Platform

Job Summary

Reimagining insurance technology, the full-time Staff Engineer, Insurance Platform will architect foundational systems for underwriting and scaling insurance products in a remote environment, utilizing AI-driven methodologies and leading a team in developing innovative capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and build core policy administration services, ensuring a modular, API-first platform for homeowners insurance
• Lead the engineering strategy for migrating from existing vendor platforms to a custom-built solution, including data transformation and validation
• Mentor the engineering team on AI-assisted development practices and establish standards for production code quality

Required qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3 years at a Staff or Principal level in the insurance domain
• Proven experience designing and operating a custom-built P&C policy administration system in production
• Hands-on experience with AI coding tools and building LLM-integrated systems at scale
• Strong systems design fundamentals, including distributed systems and event-driven architecture
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
