Staff Engineering Lead

Job Summary

To tackle complex, high-impact problems in payroll systems, the full-time Staff Engineering Lead will manage a small group of engineers, drive solutions for money movement and tax calculations, and collaborate closely with product and operations teams, with the flexibility to work remotely or in-office.

Key responsibilities

• Take on complex, high-impact problems and drive them to resolution
• Develop engineers into stronger owners across changing areas of the business
• Step into the work as needed, including system design, project management, and bug fixing

Required qualifications

• Experience owning and delivering production systems end-to-end
• Experience leading and developing engineers into stronger owners
• Strong technical judgment and ability to simplify systems
• A track record of driving outcomes in ambiguous environments
• Excitement about how AI is changing how teams build
