Job Summary
To support complex customer engagements, the full-time remote Staff Field Reliability Engineer will manage technical escalations, define platform architecture, and lead open-source initiatives while directly impacting strategic customer relationships.
Key responsibilities
- Define architecture and operational standards for managed services, including capacity planning and cost optimization across AWS environments
- Serve as the final technical escalation point for high-stakes customer situations, resolving infrastructure and observability issues in real-time
- Shape Honeycomb's open source strategy and represent the company in the OpenTelemetry ecosystem, driving initiatives and contributions
Required qualifications
- 9+ years in engineering, SRE, infrastructure, DevOps, or equivalent with demonstrated Staff-level technical scope and impact
- Deep hands-on experience with Kubernetes, particularly EKS, including deployment and operation of production clusters
- Strong AWS expertise across core services and proficiency in multi-account architecture design
- Mastery of Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Helm, and experience in architecting modules for others to build on
- Excellent executive communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
