Staff Machine Learning Engineer

Job Summary

Setting the technical direction for machine learning initiatives, the full-time Staff Machine Learning Engineer will develop and enhance models that optimize payment processes, reduce disputes, and improve transaction efficiency in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and mature the model portfolio, focusing on transaction and merchant risk as well as new models across the payments lifecycle
• Develop ML foundations including experimentation workflows, model monitoring, and performance benchmarking
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and risk operations to prioritize the ML roadmap and translate business problems into modeling opportunities

Required qualifications

• 8+ years of ML engineering experience, with 4+ years in building and shipping production models
• Proven track record of owning modeling architecture and managing models post-launch
• Experience with a variety of model types and the ability to frame problems in unfamiliar domains
• Deep understanding of modeling trade-offs, including precision, recall, and operational costs
• Experience in establishing ML processes and infrastructure for team scalability
