Staff Motion Designer

Job Summary

To define and evolve the motion design language for Pinterest, the full-time Staff Motion Designer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create intentional and coherent motion experiences while working remotely with occasional in-office collaboration.

Key responsibilities

• Define and evolve motion design principles, patterns, and specifications for consistency across the product ecosystem
• Lead motion direction for flagship and AI-forward experiences, ensuring clarity and responsiveness in user interactions
• Rapidly prototype and validate motion ideas while partnering closely with engineering to solve complex animation challenges

Required qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in motion design, product design, or interaction design with a strong portfolio of shipped digital products
• Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and shape product or design-system direction without formal authority
• Deep understanding of motion and interaction design principles, including timing, choreography, and transitions
• Experience in creating scalable motion systems, including documentation and tooling that teams can adopt
• Bachelor's degree in design, animation, human-computer interaction, or a related field, or equivalent experience
