Staff Scientist - Downstream

Job Summary

To advance biologic drug substance development, the full-time remote Staff Scientist - Downstream will lead the design, optimization, and tech transfer of purification processes, collaborating cross-functionally to ensure compliance and scalability from lab to pilot plant.

Key responsibilities

• Design, execute, and optimize downstream purification processes to achieve high yield and purity
• Lead tech transfer of processes to pilot/GMP sites, providing on-floor support during clinical campaigns
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align development plans and prepare regulatory documentation

Required qualifications

• Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Chemical/Biochemical Engineering, or related field; or M.S. with 10+ years or B.S. with 12+ years of relevant experience
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in downstream process development, including expertise in protein chromatography and viral clearance
• Hands-on experience with KTA systems and cGMP documentation
• Proven ability to design experiments and troubleshoot complex datasets independently
• Strong communication skills with experience in cross-functional collaboration
