Staff Security Engineer

Job Summary

Leading the technical direction of Identity & Access Management, the full-time Staff Security Engineer will design and implement secure access solutions for GitHub's workforce and production systems while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Set the technical direction for GitHub's identity and access management service area, leading architecture and design across various identity functions
• Oversee the evolution of the IAM platform, managing complex identity programs from architecture through production rollout
• Ensure least-privilege and just-in-time access are standard for production systems, partnering with engineering teams to evolve access patterns

Required qualifications

• 9+ years of experience in Software Engineering or a related technical discipline, with proven software delivery in languages such as C, Java, or Python
• Associate's, Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree in Computer Science or a related field, with corresponding years of experience
• Experience in maintaining and delivering production software coding
• Proven ability to lead architectural and design reviews in a technical capacity
• Experience mentoring senior engineers and setting quality standards for code and design reviews
