Job Summary
As the founding reliability voice for Project Volcano, the full-time Staff Site Reliability Engineer will manage end-to-end reliability, architect infrastructure, and build deployment automation for a remote developer platform serving Kong's engineering ecosystem.
Key responsibilities
- Own reliability for Volcano by defining SLOs, error budgets, and incident response practices
- Architect the platform's multi-region Kubernetes infrastructure and backend-as-a-service capabilities
- Establish deployment automation and CI/CD processes using tools like ArgoCD, Helm, and Terraform
Required qualifications
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience at Staff or Principal IC level in SRE/Platform Engineering
- Proven experience building SRE or platform engineering practices for developer-facing platforms or PaaS/SaaS products
- Deep expertise in Kubernetes, including multi-tenant cluster design and security hardening
- Strong background in designing and operating managed data services like PostgreSQL and Redis
- Experience with observability tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, and Grafana
