Staff Software Engineer

Job Summary

To lead cross-team efforts and set technical direction for the macOS platform, the full-time remote Staff Software Engineer will design, develop, and maintain high-quality technical solutions while ensuring scalability, reliability, and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and ship scalable technical solutions across multiple GitHub services
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship, ensuring code quality and integration with downstream dependencies
• Own the health and quality of systems, participating in on-call rotations and incident response

Required qualifications

• 9+ years of experience in Software Engineering or related technical discipline, with proficiency in languages such as C, C++, Java, JavaScript, Go, Ruby, Rust, or Python
• Willingness to participate in a rotating on-call schedule for 24/7 coverage
• Experience in maintaining and delivering production software
• Ability to write architecture briefs and proposals for technical solutions
• Experience with CI/CD tools for automated pipelines
