Staff Software Engineer

Job Summary

Providing technical leadership for multi-quarter initiatives, the full-time salaried Staff Software Engineer will work remotely to architect systems, enhance reporting and integration capabilities, and develop a suite of tools for fundraising administrators using Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, React, and TypeScript.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and lead database modernization efforts to optimize large-scale systems for efficiency and reliability
• Design and implement scalable data solutions and robust APIs to ensure seamless data integration and high availability
• Lead cross-team initiatives, collaborating with engineers to balance high-impact opportunities with technical tradeoffs

Required qualifications

• 6-8 years of relevant professional experience with a focus on technical leadership and cross-team collaboration
• Significant experience in developing and maintaining large monolithic server-side web applications
• Deep understanding of performance, scalability, and security best practices
• Experience designing and integrating with third-party APIs and building extensible systems
• Ability to communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders and translate business requirements into technical solutions
