Staff Software Engineer

Job Summary

Designing and operating the identity and access platform for Temporal Cloud, the full-time remote Staff Software Engineer will focus on building authentication and authorization systems, integrating with enterprise identity providers, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure secure operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build end-to-end authentication and authorization systems for Temporal Cloud
• Scale the authentication processes to meet service level objectives while ensuring low latency and high reliability
• Collaborate with Security, Product, and platform teams to implement secure-by-default patterns and define technical roadmaps

Required qualifications

• Deep hands-on experience with production identity systems including OAuth 2.0/2.1, OIDC, and SAML
• Strong understanding of authorization models at scale, including RBAC and policy engines
• Proven track record in operating latency-sensitive distributed systems in production
• Proficiency in Go, with additional experience in Python, Java, or Kotlin being a plus
• Ability to effectively align stakeholders across security, product, and engineering teams
