Staff Software Engineer

Job Summary

As the senior technical owner of the Search Platform, the full-time remote Staff Software Engineer will lead the design and implementation of the Search Engine and Indexing Pipeline, focusing on ranking and relevance strategies while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Own the architecture and operational model of the Search Engine, including technology direction and document schema
• Build and manage the Indexing Pipeline to ingest, validate, and transform data for the search engine
• Drive search relevance and ranking strategies in collaboration with product and data teams

Required qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Deep experience in designing and building search engines, preferably with Vespa or similar technologies
• Strong proficiency in Go or willingness to adopt it as a primary language
• Experience with real-time data pipelines for search indexing
• Strong instincts for relevance and ranking, with the ability to translate product goals into actionable strategies
