Staff Software Engineer

Job Summary

Seeking a mission-driven Staff Software Engineer for a full-time remote position, who will contribute to building a new data visualization product called Explorer, enhancing civic engagement tools while establishing engineering patterns and operational foundations for the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive the technical direction of the Explorer product from pilot to general availability, ensuring reliability and scalability
• Establish best practices for code quality and testing, mentoring senior engineers and promoting a high-performing team culture
• Lead initiatives across multiple teams, aligning technical and non-technical stakeholders to achieve organizational goals

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with full-stack fluency across various languages and technology stacks
• Proven experience in taking a product from beta to general availability, navigating operational and quality demands
• Deep expertise in cloud-native architectures and distributed systems, particularly with AWS
• Strong understanding of relational databases and experience with analytical data stores
• Experience driving secure coding practices and data privacy principles in production systems
