Staff Software Engineer

Job Summary

Focused on enhancing software testing efficiency, the full-time Staff Software Engineer will define and own the technical strategy for test infrastructure at Coinbase, ensuring fast and reliable test signals while working remotely with occasional in-person sessions.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement the technical strategy for test infrastructure with an emphasis on speed of feedback
• Build and maintain core services for test execution orchestration, smart test selection, and flaky-test detection
• Collaborate with engineering teams to identify and resolve test infrastructure bottlenecks, mentoring others along the way

Required qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in building and operating production software, particularly in distributed systems
• Proven track record in defining and delivering technical strategies for foundational systems
• Hands-on experience in test infrastructure, including test execution at scale and flaky-test detection
• Strong operational instincts focused on reliability, security, and observability
• Experience driving complex, cross-team technical projects to completion
