Staff Software Engineer

Job Summary

Driving the technical direction of event logging, the full-time salaried Staff Software Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance Airbnb's logging platform, focusing on high-quality data production and tooling for user activity events.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with partner teams to identify pain points and prototype solutions for logging products
• Own the technical direction and roadmap for the logging platform, aligning it with organizational priorities
• Mentor engineers and drive best practices for software development across the organization

Required qualifications

• 9+ years of industry engineering experience
• Experience building internal infrastructure, particularly in event logging and observability
• Deep expertise in backend/server languages such as Java, Kotlin, or C++
• Proven ability to influence engineering strategy and shape technical priorities
• Experience mentoring engineers and fostering a culture of knowledge sharing
