Staff Software Engineer

Job Summary

Leading technical strategy for service communications, the full-time Staff Software Engineer will architect and deploy advanced service mesh features, enhance service security, and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and deploy service mesh features focusing on service discovery, traffic shaping, and observability using Envoy proxy
• Lead the adoption of service identity and mTLS for security requirements across service-to-service interactions
• Collaborate with service owners to refine infrastructure requirements and maintain service framework libraries in Java, Python, and C++

Required qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in infrastructure or platform engineering, specifically in distributed systems or RPC framework development
• Deep expertise in service mesh technologies such as Envoy or Istio, with hands-on experience in L7 proxying
• Proficiency in multiple programming languages (Java, Python, C++) and experience building internal libraries or developer tools
• Strong understanding of service security, including mTLS adoption and identity management via SPIFFE/SPIRE
• Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience
