Staff Software Engineer

Job Summary

Driving technical execution from design through production, the full-time remote Staff Software Engineer will architect and deliver high-performance systems for GitHub Actions, ensuring reliability and scalability while mentoring team members and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and ship high-quality technical solutions that scale across multiple services
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship, supporting teams in producing maintainable code and adhering to quality standards
• Own and advocate for the health and quality of systems, participating in on-call rotations and addressing live incidents

Required qualifications

• 9+ years of experience in software engineering or related technical discipline with proven production software coding experience in languages such as Go, Ruby, or Python
• Willingness to participate in a rotating on-call schedule, providing 24/7 coverage for 1-2 weeks each quarter
• Associate's degree in a related field with 8+ years of experience, or a bachelor's degree with 7+ years, or a master's degree with 5+ years, or a doctorate with 3+ years, or equivalent experience
