Staff Software Engineer

Job Summary

To enhance the Git code-hosting platform, the full-time Staff Software Engineer will design, develop, and support scalable services while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and ship high-quality technical solutions across multiple GitHub services
• Document architectural designs, run experiments, and validate approaches with prototypes
• Provide technical leadership through code reviews and mentor team members to ensure quality standards

Required qualifications

• 9+ years of experience in Software Engineering or a related technical discipline with proven experience in production software coding
• Experience with programming languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Go, Ruby, Rust, or Python
• Associate's, Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
• Proven ability to maintain and deliver production software
• Experience in designing scalable and high-availability services
