Staff Software Engineer

Job Summary

Leading technical direction for the ControlCheck team, the full-time Staff Software Engineer will design and implement architectural solutions across multiple domains while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Set technical direction and design work that spans front-end, back-end, and infrastructure over extended periods
• Contribute to architectural decisions for services built on Ruby on Rails and Python FastAPI, guiding the team on best practices
• Mentor senior engineers and drive cross-team initiatives while maintaining productive relationships across the organization

Required qualifications

• 9+ years of professional software engineering experience with full-stack expertise
• Strong specialization in one area (front-end, back-end, or infrastructure) and working knowledge of the others
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and managing production services end-to-end
• Proven ability to influence architectural decisions across multiple teams
• Excellent communication skills for articulating complex systems to non-technical stakeholders
