Staff Software Engineer

Job Summary

As the first dedicated platform engineer, the full-time Staff Software Engineer will build the technical foundation for products, collaborating with leadership to define architecture and roadmap while remaining hands-on with core systems in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Own the technical roadmap for Platform Engineering and lead architectural decisions impacting multiple teams
• Architect, build, and operate scalable backend services using Ruby on Rails, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure
• Enhance developer productivity through CI/CD, automation, and internal tooling while mentoring engineers in best practices

Required qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with expert-level Ruby on Rails skills
• Strong experience in React and designing distributed systems with service-oriented architectures
• Deep knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, and cloud-native infrastructure
• Experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines and maintaining high-availability production infrastructure
• Proven ability to lead complex technical initiatives across multiple teams without direct management
