Staff Software Engineer

Job Summary

To shape the future of project planning and tracking, the full-time Staff Software Engineer will design, prototype, implement, and support user experiences while addressing scaling and user-experience challenges in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Build user experiences that enhance productivity and collaboration for millions of users
• Take ownership of GitHub.com, contributing to and improving the codebase from day one
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to foster team growth and guide project priorities

Required qualifications

• 9+ years of experience in Software Engineering or related technical discipline with proven software delivery skills in multiple programming languages
• 4+ years of experience building and supporting large-scale applications within cloud environments
• 3+ years of experience leading cross-team technical initiatives and mentoring engineers
• Experience designing and debugging large-scale distributed systems with a focus on reliability and automation
• Strong ability to drive improvements in system performance and user experience
