Job Summary
Owning the technical direction for GitHub's web UI platform, the full-time Staff Software Engineer will drive cross-team initiatives focused on performance, accessibility, and consistency while working remotely from the United States.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the technical direction for the frontend platform, balancing architecture with hands-on execution
- Manage large cross-team initiatives and migrations to enhance platform performance without disrupting product development
- Establish standards and patterns for frontend development that facilitate scalability across multiple teams
Required qualifications
- 9+ years of experience in Software Engineering or related technical discipline, with proven experience in production software coding in languages such as C, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- Associate's, Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree in Computer Science or related field, with corresponding years of experience
- Experience in maintaining and delivering production software in large, multi-team codebases
- Strong understanding of web platform and accessibility fundamentals, including browser APIs and a11y standards
- Proven ability to produce architecture and design proposals while building alignment across engineering, product, and design teams
