Staff Software Engineer
Job Summary
Providing technical leadership for a cutting-edge platform, the full-time Staff Software Engineer will design and develop scalable cloud infrastructure for GitHub's autonomous agents while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and ship high-quality technical solutions that scale across multiple services
- Provide mentorship and technical leadership to encourage team growth and ensure adherence to quality standards
- Own the operational health of the platform, participating in on-call rotations and ensuring system quality and performance
Required qualifications
- 9+ years of experience in Software Engineering or related technical discipline with a strong background in production software coding
- 5+ years of experience operating distributed backend systems, including API design and production ownership
- 1+ years of experience building and shipping AI/ML-powered features in production
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Go, Ruby, Rust, or Python
- Experience with cloud infrastructure and distributed systems
