Staff Software Engineer

Job Summary

Leading the migration of Vanta's resource data model, the full-time Staff Software Engineer will oversee the transition from a Mongo-centric architecture to a schema-aware Postgres-backed solution while ensuring system availability and customer integration in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the migration of the data layer for Vanta's compliance product, preserving public API contracts and customer evidence
• Design and evolve data ingestion and pipeline architecture to ensure reliable processing of high-throughput, terabyte-scale data streams
• Mentor senior engineers and drive engineering excellence in reliability and operational hygiene across the data infrastructure

Required qualifications

• Proven experience leading platform migration initiatives while maintaining backward compatibility and system availability
• Strong knowledge of streaming and queuing infrastructure, particularly Kafka or equivalent technologies
• Extensive experience in distributed systems and data pipeline engineering at enterprise scale
• Fluency in relational and document data modeling, particularly with Postgres and MongoDB
• Solid AWS fundamentals and proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js
