Staff Software Engineer

Job Summary

Leading the migration of Vanta's data layer, the full-time Staff Software Engineer will focus on transitioning from a Mongo-centric architecture to a schema-aware Postgres-backed solution while ensuring system availability and maintaining customer integrations in a remote setting.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the migration of Vanta's resource data model while preserving public API contracts and customer evidence
• Design and evolve the data ingestion and pipeline architecture for high-throughput processing of terabyte-scale data streams
• Mentor senior engineers and champion engineering excellence in reliability and operational hygiene across the data infrastructure

Required qualifications

• Proven experience leading platform migration initiatives with backward compatibility
• Strong knowledge of streaming and queuing infrastructure, particularly Kafka
• Extensive experience in distributed systems and data pipeline engineering at enterprise scale
• Fluency in relational and document data modeling, particularly with Postgres and MongoDB
• Solid understanding of AWS fundamentals and proficiency in TypeScript and Node
