Staff Software Engineer
Job Summary
To lead the development of Data Catalog infrastructure products, the remote Staff Software Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to build tooling, standards, and processes that ensure data assets at Airbnb are cataloged, discoverable, and governed.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and implement data catalog products for data discovery, metadata management, and data quality
- Build metadata infrastructure to support data governance, including ownership management and data classification
- Collaborate with teams to ensure datasets meet business goals and regulatory requirements while defining metadata quality standards
Required qualifications:
- BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
- 9+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on data infrastructure
- Strong programming skills in Java, Python, or Scala
- Experience with data catalog products and metadata management
- Knowledge of data governance frameworks and processes
