Staff Software Engineer, Backend

Job Summary

To support the growth of Grader, the full-time Staff Software Engineer, Backend will own the backend services and data pipelines that enhance restaurant health reports, ensuring reliability and scalability in a fully remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Own the backend services and data pipelines for Grader, managing the end-to-end process from data ingestion to result delivery
• Enhance platform performance by reducing latency and increasing uptime while implementing observability and alerting systems
• Establish foundational architectural patterns and operational runbooks to streamline engineering processes and reduce operational toil

Required qualifications

• 7+ years of experience owning backend services in production environments
• Proven experience in building and operating data pipelines and third-party integrations at scale
• Track record of improving system reliability and operational health in a product-focused startup or scale-up
• Strong collaboration skills, with positive feedback from cross-functional teams in product, design, and business
• Demonstrated sense of ownership and proactive problem-solving abilities
