Staff Software Engineer, Backend

Job Summary

To support the growth of a dynamic FinTech company, the remote Staff Software Engineer, Backend will design, build, and scale the financial infrastructure for payments and money movement systems while providing technical leadership across multiple teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement backend services and APIs for core financial infrastructure, ensuring accuracy and reliability
• Lead the architecture of fault-tolerant financial platforms that process millions of transactions
• Mentor team members and drive the adoption of engineering best practices across the organization

Required qualifications

• 6-8+ years of professional software engineering experience focused on backend development
• 4+ years of hands-on experience with Java and related frameworks (Spring, Gradle, JUnit)
• Deep experience in building or operating financial systems, including payments and ledgers
• Strong understanding of distributed systems design and financial data consistency
• Hands-on experience with AWS services and containerization technologies (Docker/Kubernetes)
