Staff Software Engineer, Backend

Job Summary

To build the future of finance, the full-time Staff Software Engineer, Backend will design and own core backend systems for prediction markets, focusing on order management, trade matching, and market resolution in a remote-first environment.

Key responsibilities

• Own the design, development, and reliability of backend systems for order management, trade matching, and settlement
• Architect distributed systems ensuring correctness across clearing, payout, and position management workflows
• Lead cross-functional collaboration to meet regulatory requirements and shape engineering standards across the Prediction Markets team

Required qualifications

• 8+ years of backend software engineering experience with ownership of high-availability, low-latency distributed systems
• Proven track record in designing systems where financial correctness is critical, such as order management or settlement systems
• Experience leading complex technical projects, including architecture design and cross-team coordination
• Deep proficiency in at least one backend language (e.g., Go, Java) and strong fundamentals in distributed systems
• Track record of mentoring engineers and raising standards for design reviews and code quality
