Staff Software Engineer - Embedded Networking
Job Summary
Seeking a remote, full-time Staff Software Engineer - Embedded Networking who will extend Airwall technology onto new devices, modernize the technology stack, and manage embedded software for constrained targets while working closely with cross-functional teams.
Key responsibilities
- Extend Airwall onto new classes of devices and hardware targets
- Own the embedded software running on constrained targets, including OpenWRT and ARM-based platforms
- Diagnose networking failures in live customer environments and contribute to core codebases
Required qualifications
- 8+ years of experience shipping production networking software, particularly on embedded or kernel-adjacent systems
- Deep expertise in C, C++, or Rust, with the ability to work across all three languages
- Hands-on embedded Linux experience on resource-constrained hardware or OpenWRT
- Working knowledge of encrypted transport protocols, including IPsec, ESP, and IKE
- A track record of shipping into environments where downtime carries real consequences
