Job Summary
To provide legal and strategic guidance across collections, servicing, and customer operations, the remote State Licensed Associate General Counsel will manage day-to-day legal advice, negotiate contracts, and track regulatory developments while fostering relationships across various departments.
Key responsibilities:
- Owning day-to-day legal advice on collections, recoveries, and servicing
- Negotiating and closing contracts with debt sale counterparties, vendors, and technology providers
- Tracking legal and regulatory developments, particularly around AI in customer-facing tools
Required qualifications:
- JD from an accredited law school and an active law license in good standing
- 7+ years of legal practice in a large law firm or in-house at a fintech/neobank/bank, focusing on federal and state credit card or personal lending law
- Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks governing credit card servicing, collections, and recoveries
- Expertise in adjacent frameworks related to credit card programs, including debt sales regulation and bankruptcy law
- Strong analytical judgment and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
