State Licensed CDI Specialist

Job Summary

Seeking a full-time remote State Licensed CDI Specialist, the position focuses on performing concurrent inpatient documentation reviews to enhance the accuracy and integrity of medical records while collaborating with healthcare teams to support compliant documentation and coding practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform concurrent inpatient documentation reviews to improve documentation specificity and coding accuracy
• Conduct compliant physician queries to clarify ambiguous documentation following AHIMA/ACDIS guidelines
• Collaborate with coding, CDI, and quality teams to enhance documentation quality and reduce denials

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license or graduate of an accredited medical program (MD, DO, NP, PA, or equivalent)
• CCDS or CDIP certification required
• Minimum 5 years of concurrent inpatient CDI experience in an acute care hospital
• Strong knowledge of MS and APR-DRG reimbursement, ICD-10-CM/PCS, and compliant query practices
• Experience with CDI platforms such as Epic, Cerner, or similar systems
