State Licensed Coding Appeals Specialist

Job Summary

A company is looking for an Acute Coding Appeals Specialist.

Key Responsibilities

• Integrate medical coding principles in performing coding appeals and denials activities
• Participate in client system education to ensure coding is supported by clinical documentation and regulatory standards
• Maintain documentation and perform research on coding and billing requirements to make recommendations to clients

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Active Coding Certification (e.g., RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CIC, CPC, COC)
• 5 years of previous experience in coding
• Advanced knowledge of medical coding and billing systems
• Previous inpatient facility coding experience, specifically with appeals and denials
